If you’re looking for a gift that feels personal, a photography voucher is a wonderful idea. It brings people together and marks those moments that matter: a new baby, the family finally back all together in one place, or generations side by side. It’s a thoughtful gift for someone you love and want to celebrate and best still a gift that continues to offer joy beyond just one moment.
A gift that lasts
Most gifts are things. This one’s not. It’s a few hours set aside, phones down, everyone in the same space, all together. It’s the sort of gift that permeates your everyday, a photo on the wall, on the fridge, or saved to a lock screen. Photos slowly become part of your family’s story. You can’t really wrap that up, but you can give someone the chance to have it.
For every kind of occasion
Photography vouchers work for so many occasions and people in all stages of life and they land especially well with people who are tricky to buy for.
Photography vouchers are often given for:
- Milestone birthdays: especially for grandmothers turning 60 or 70, who want everyone together (and who’ll tell you so repeatedly) or another common one I see are vouchers being given for 40th birthdays
- Baby showers or new babies: friends can pitch in for a newborn session so the new parents don’t have to think about it later and so you’re not just burdening them with more stuff
- Mother’s Day: the gift she’s going to LOVE and so Mum can actually be in the photos instead of just taking them.
- Christmas: when you want to give something that won’t clutter up a house or end up in a drawer or as a joint collective family gift to each other.
Because they’re flexible and valid for three years, recipients can plan a time that suits, when the weather’s lovely, or when everyone’s back from holidays and finally together.
How it works
I offer vouchers for family, newborn or extended family sessions, and can be used anywhere across Melbourne.
You can choose either:
- A digital voucher, emailed to you or straight to the recipient. You can even set a specific send date, so it arrives right when you want, for example, first thing on a birthday or Mother’s Day morning.
- A printed voucher, posted to you or directly to the recipient, ready to gift.
Each voucher is personalised with the recipient’s name and who it is from.
When you’ve left it to the last minute
We’ve all done it, the birthday’s tomorrow and the shops are closed, or it’s midnight and you’ve just remembered it’s an anniversary. That’s where a digital voucher comes in handy.
I can email it straight to you (or directly to the recipient) within a day, often sooner. You still get to give something thoughtful and personal, no panic buying, no slightly dodgy Amazon next day delivery, no postage delays, no “I owe you a gift” text later.
Group gifting made simple
Vouchers also work beautifully when people want to give a shared present. A few friends, siblings or colleagues can chip in together, and one person takes the lead on organising.
It’s especially popular for baby showers and I’ve also done vouchers for workplace farewells. They are practical, meaningful, and easy to coordinate.
If you’re the organiser, I’ll send you one simple payment link and handle the rest, the voucher itself, delivery, and clear instructions for the recipient when they’re ready to book.
The process
When you reach out, I’ll ask for a few quick details:
- The recipient’s name,
- Whether you’d like it digital or printed,
- The date you’d like it sent, and
- Who and where it should go to (you or directly to the recipient).
Once those are confirmed, I’ll prepare your voucher and send a payment link.
Vouchers are paid in full at the time of purchase, and once payment is received, I’ll email or post it, usually within one business day. Printed vouchers have a print lead time and will direct ship from my printer – please allow 1-2 weeks.
When the recipient’s ready, they simply get in touch to book a session that suits them.
Valid for three years
All vouchers are valid for three years from the date of purchase, in line with Australian Consumer Law. That gives plenty of time to plan around school terms, holidays and family logistics, no rush, no pressure.
Straightforward and transparent
There are no hidden costs or surprise extras, my sessions are flat rate sessions, your recipient wont be left needing to pay any extra. Everything’s clearly outlined in the Voucher Terms & Conditions
Why this kind of gift works
A voucher isn’t just an IOU for photos, it’s permission for people to finally do the thing they’ve been meaning to do for years. It’s practical and meaningful in equal parts, and the end result is something they’ll still appreciate long after the day itself.
It’s the kind of gift that ends up on a wall, not in a drawer.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I choose the amount for the voucher?
My vouchers are session-based eg. family/newborn/extended-family. This is the fairest way to give a voucher to your recipient, unless there’s been prior discussion with them and it is not a direct surprise and then we can chat about options.
How long are vouchers valid for?
As per Australian law, vouchers are valid for 3 years.
Can you send the voucher directly to the recipient?
Absolutely. You can choose a digital voucher (emailed directly to them or to you) or a printed voucher sent by post. Digital vouchers can also be scheduled to arrive on a specific date, like a birthday or Mother’s Day.
What if I’ve left it to the last minute?
No problem, digital vouchers are perfect for that. I can usually have one prepared and sent within a day, often sooner.
Can a group buy a voucher together?
Yes. Group gifting works really well for occasions like baby showers or milestone birthdays. One person will need to handle the organising and payment, and I’ll send the final voucher and details once everything’s confirmed.
How does the recipient book their session?
When they’re ready, they simply get in touch with me through my contact page. I’ll share my availability and help them choose a time that suits. Booking instructions will be emailed to your recipient if you choose a digital option.
Are there any extra fees or fine print?
No surprises. Everything’s outlined clearly in the Voucher Terms & Conditions. The voucher value covers the session purchased, and there are no hidden or icky upsells.
