I chose not to set up a flash as I was very happy with whatever this west(?!) facing window was doing. While doing things like this I am having a conversation with the person being photographed shifting the focus away from the fact that they’re being photographed and getting them to think about other things, this helps faces relax. ☺️

More than half way through school holidays parents More than half way through school holidays parents, how are we going? Today I have one child hosting her own dungeons and dragons game for her friends and one taking herself off to the shops with friends. This is a whole new era. Melbournes freezing weather has put a dampener on some of the things I wanted to get done (after working like a mad thing last week to push all my edits out…) apparently my inside todo list is also cold 🙃 ❄️ : if someone can send inspiration about cleaning out my freezer that’d be grand.
Child engagement when it comes to photos is about Child engagement when it comes to photos is about play and respect and a little bit of fun too. Parents you can do this with your own kids too when taking photos. Let go of the idea of a lined up looking at the camera perfect smile moment and find that later. Play first. Ask your kids questions. Involve them. Drop your expectations and see what happens.

Thank you Fathima for this lovely review!

She’s only semi willing to learn yet… mostly because “she doesn’t want to be a photographer”

If in Gippsland @seaspraygeneralstore is always excellent.

The dog is living his absolute best life running free. And I’m wildly grateful we can be here without someone with major health issues… and kids mostly getting along we’ve even played board games more than once without fights 😅

It was very lovely to hear this. Sleepy newborn photos are beautiful, but they’re only one way to photograph a baby.

If your baby’s awake for most of the session, you’ll get tiny stretches, wide curious eyes, a little yawn, a small hand gripping your finger. It’s great.

Some of my favourite photos happen when babies are awake.
