Insurance and Vaccinations?
Yes I have liability insurance.
A Working with Children's Check.
I have current whooping couch vaccination.
I am fully vaccinated for COVID19.
How much direction do you give?
I give some direction at points during your shoot - enough for you to feel comfortable and as and know what's going on but not so much as for you to feel forced or posed and some points in your shoot will be unposed/documentary. I aim for sessions to be comfortable and natural and an enjoyable experience. Head on over to reviews to hear from others about how they found their experience with me.
What do your Packages include?
Your wedding day coverage includes your photos from the day edited in a combination of black and white and colour. My packages are continuous time based.
How many images can we expect?
For a 5hr wedding you can expect 400+ images for an 8hr wedding you can expect 600+.
I don’t work to a restricted number of images but I also aim to not overwhelm you.
Do you work with second photographers?
Sometimes! I shoot most of my weddings solo but occasionally logistics or timing will mean that you’ll be better off having an additional photographer and sometimes it's just fun to have that second perspective.
I am not currently booking weddings over 8hrs. 5-8hours is what my clients usually choose anyway!
A second photographer can come for all or part of your day.
Can we give you a shot list?
I definitely want a list of the family group shots but trust me on the rest of it, I'll get it! Although do give me a heads up on any important but subtle details that I might not otherwise know about!
What if it rains?
I’ve shot a lot of rainy weddings! It's Melbourne! Usually you can duck in and out from under cover, we can find shelter in some surprising locations or do some moody indoor shots. Rainy days give great colours!
How does booking work?
Send me an email and I'll get right back to you! We can catch up over coffee (or virtually if that works better) and chat through how it works. When you're ready to book, you lock in your date with a 20% booking fee with final payment due two weeks prior, there’s also a contract to look after us both. I'll send through some questionnaires and helpful info to guide your planning, then I get in touch with you a month or so out from the day and check schedule details so we're ready to go!
What do we get?
Family sessions are very relaxed and take place indoors in the morning (around 10am) or outdoors late afternoon/evening (approximately 1/1.5hr before sunset). You can expect a combination of naturally posed family shots, some unposed portraits of your kids and all those magical in-between moments.
Your newborn session takes place ideally within the first two weeks of your baby being born (or as soon as you feel ready). This is a natural and minimally posed lifestyle/documentary session of you with your baby taken at your home. I do not shoot with props. Other immediate family members are very welcome.
Please contact me for extended family shoots as timing and pricing may vary depending on the size of your group.
There is a small charge for travel upwards of an hour outside of 3138.
What should we wear?
I want you to wear what you are comfortable in and what you’d like to be photographed in. Neutral tones are fantastic, and some pattern is totally fine (maybe not everyone at once unless that's really who you are!).
It’s probably best to avoid clothing with words/images big brand names across them as they will date. Something else to consider is to ensure no one is wearing exactly the same colour so you don't blend into each other. No fluro please (it does funky weird things to your images)! And if you can avoid huge blocks of bright cobalt blue or red/orange that can reflect red back up into faces or dominate your images.
Have a look through some of my other images if you need some inspiration. I am happy to provide style advice, but also am not after an 'instagram perfect' look, I want you to be yourselves and not spend a fortune on a new wardrobe.
If you're trying to coordinate a large group click through to my blog post: What to wear for extended family photos.
Guys! Keep your phones and keys out of your pockets!
How do I book?
Message me here! We can work out a time that suits you. I'll shoot through a questionnaire for some basic details and to get a better understanding of your needs.
All bookings require a $250 booking fee to lock in your date with the remainder paid one week prior to the session.
What does it cost?
Please see the pricing page for a more detailed breakdown.
Your session fee includes your shoot time and all your high resolution images plus some print credit to help you get your images on the walls!
When is the best time to have photos?
If you'd like that wonderful evening light, the hour or hour and a half before sunset is the best time, this changes throughout the year because of daylight savings. I can advise on the best time of day for your shoot.
If your kids are small and you think that they will cope better then early morning is a good option for then the light drops late.
Inside sessions for families and newborns are best done in the morning.
Do you have any good locations?
Victoria is full of varied and wonderful locations and I’m more than happy to help you find the right spot to take your photos. I'm also a big advocate for going somewhere meaningful for your family. If you have somewhere in mind that you would like to go let me know. We can also work at your home or backyard. You do not have to have a fancy or even very tidy house to merit shooting in!
Do you do maternity sessions?
Yes. Maternity sessions you can expect a gentle, naturally directed session that can be with or without your partner.
How do we get our home ready
If we are shooting in your home please know that I've seen it all, my house is covered in lego! It's helpful for me if your place is tidy but don't feel you have to go overboard. I will be shooting in the spaces with the best natural window light, typically this is bedrooms or living spaces. If you can clear basic clutter that's helpful (if you don't want it in images) and bedside tables and make sure there's linen on your bed that you like, the simpler/plainer the better if you have the option and/or a blanket/quilt to add texture!
What if we get sick or the weather is bad?
If you're sick we reschedule! Let me know as soon as possible and we'll work out another date that suits. I will make a final call on weather if I think it is unsuitable.
